The Vice Chancellor of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Lapai, Professor Mohammed Hadi Sulaiman, has revealed that the varsity has advanced Nigeria’s interests in agriculture, veterinary, and traditional medicines, by sealing new international partnerships with a University in Wuhan, China.
Sulaiman said the varsity just completed a one-week strategic engagement, after participating in high-level academic, diplomatic activities, aimed at expanding global collaboration for IBBU Lapai, Nigeria’s research ecosystem.
The Vice Chancellor stressed the need for stronger transnational partnerships to improve agricultural productivity and veterinary systems across Africa, while stressing the importance of global cooperation in harnessing the potential of Nigerian traditional medicine for sustainable healthcare solutions.
It was gathered that during the Forum on China – Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Action Plan 2025–2027, hosted by the China–Africa Innovation Center, where Professor Sulaiman delivered a keynote address titled “Mitigating Challenges of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture in Nigeria: Opportunities, Threats, Imperative for International Collaboration.”

He also visited Hubei University, finalized and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IBBU Lapai and Hubei University, paving the way for joint research, staff exchange, capacity building, collaborative academic programs.
