The Nigerian Army has observed a growing number of fraudulent social media accounts, falsely claiming to represent or be linked to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu.

The Army wishes to categorically clarify that the Chief of Army Staff does not maintain any official social media presence on any platform.

Members of the public are advised to exercise extreme caution, remain vigilant against scammers who may use these fake accounts to defraud individuals, solicit for funds, or spread false information in the name of the COAS or the Nigerian Army. The public is urged not to engage, respond, or share content from such accounts.

The Nigerian Army is actively taking steps to identify, apprehend the operators of these fake accounts, ensuring they are brought to justice under existing laws.

The Army reassures the public of its continued commitment towards protecting citizens, safeguarding the territorial integrity of Nigeria, as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
