NIGERIA POLICE WOMEN @ 70: AKWA IBOM COMMAND COMMEMORATES WITH ROAD WALK, OUTREACH TO RETIRED OFFICERS

Akwa Ibom State Police Command today joined the nation in celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Women in the Nigeria Police Force, a milestone recognizing the courage, resilience, and trailblazing contributions of policewomen across the country.

In a show of solidarity and strength, female officers of the Akwa Ibom Command embarked on a symbolic road walk across major streets in Uyo, promoting public engagement, physical fitness, and team cohesion while honoring the enduring spirit of service that has defined policewomen over the decades.

As part of the commemoration, the officers also paid courtesy visits to retired policewomen who served the Force with distinction.

Retired officers ACP Ini Akpabio (Rtd), ACP Elizabeth Mfon (Rtd), and SP Rachel Esin (Rtd) expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a mark of honour, empathy, and respect.

Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, lauded the women for their active contributions across intelligence, investigations, community relations, administration, and operational duties. He described the 70-year journey as one marked by courage, sacrifice, and excellence.

CP Azare further emphasized the Command’s commitment to promoting gender balance, welfare, and opportunities for female officers, highlighting that women now serve in strategic roles such as Commissioners of Police, Tactical Commanders, and Heads of Units.
