Public anger intensified across the United States on Saturday after new video footage surfaced showing the final moments before a Minnesota woman was fatally shot by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, amid growing controversy over the handling of the investigation.

The 47-second video, filmed from the perspective of ICE officer, Jonathan Ross, captures the chaotic encounter that ended with the death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother, during an immigration enforcement operation earlier this week. The footage, which circulated online after being published by a Minnesota-based outlet, later shared by federal authorities, has reignited debate over the use of force by immigration agents.

In the video, Ross is seen approaching and circling Good’s vehicle in the middle of a street as sirens blare in the background. Verbal exchanges are heard between the officer, Good and her wife, Becca Good, who was standing outside the vehicle, recording the encounter on her phone. Moments later, as Good’s SUV reverses briefly, then moves forward, Ross opens fire. The vehicle is later seen crashing into parked cars.

Minnesota prosecutors have urged members of the public to submit any additional recording or evidence linked to the shooting, as questions mount over the decision by federal authorities to exclude state and local agencies from the investigation.

Local officials say federal investigators removed key evidence, including the vehicle and shell casings, without state oversight.

The Trump administration has defended the ICE agent’s actions, describing the shooting as an act of self-defence and labeling Good a “domestic terrorist”, claims strongly disputed by Minnesota officials and civil rights advocates. Critics argue the released video does not conclusively support the administration’s account.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey warned that sidelining independent investigators risks eroding public trust, saying federal authorities appeared to have already drawn conclusions before a full review of the facts.

The killing has triggered protests in Minneapolis and other US cities, with demonstrators condemning aggressive immigration enforcement tactics. Organizers say more demonstrations are planned nationwide in the coming days, as scrutiny of ICE operations continues to grow.
