Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment have reached a multi-year agreement that will bring films such as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse to Netflix subscribers worldwide, following their theatrical and video-on-demand releases.

Under the deal, Netflix will hold exclusive streaming rights to Sony Pictures’ films for the first 18 months after release, after which the titles will move to Disney. The rollout will begin later this year as regional rights open, with full global availability expected by early 2029.

Early titles set to stream on Netflix include Nintendo’s live-action The Legend of Zelda, The Nightingale starring Dakota and Elle Fanning, and four Beatles-related films directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes.

The agreement provides Netflix with a steady flow of studio films as it relies more on licensed content, while Sony secures a home for its theatrical slate amid changing consumer streaming habits.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
