NDA COMMANDANT VISITS GOC 1 DIVISION IN KADUNA

The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Abubakar Sadique Muhammad Wase, at the Division’s Headquarters in Kawo, Kaduna.

Major General Wase also serves as the Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

The visit, held on February 24, 2026, was in line with military tradition aimed at strengthening professional ties and operational collaboration between formations.

During the meeting, General Olatoye expressed appreciation to the GOC for the warm reception extended to him and his entourage, as well as for the Division’s consistent operational support to the Academy, particularly through the 37 Demonstration Battalion.

He noted that the integration of the NDA into the divisional security architecture has significantly improved rapid response capabilities in addressing security threats within the Academy and its environs.

“We must acknowledge the visible improvements in security around the Nigerian Defence Academy,” Olatoye said. “Under determined leadership, previous security gaps have been closed, ensuring the sustained protection of our personnel, infrastructure and training activities.”

In his remarks, General Wase commended the NDA Commandant for his leadership and sustained support in the areas of training and institutional cooperation. He reaffirmed the commitment of 1 Division to continue supporting the Academy and other military formations within its area of responsibility.

According to him, seamless collaboration among military institutions remain critical to achieving operational success, particularly in the North-West region.
