National Basketball Association has postponed a scheduled NBA game in Minneapolis following a fatal shooting involving federal immigration agents in the city.
The game between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves, which was billed to take place on Saturday at the Target Center, was shifted by one day due to security concerns arising from the incident.
Federal agents had earlier shot, killed a man during an operation linked to an ongoing federal immigration crackdown in the state. The incident sparked fresh tension in the city, coming barely a day after more than 10,000 residents staged street protests against the deployment of about 3,000 federal agents ordered by President Donald Trump.
In a statement, the NBA said the decision to postpone the match was taken to prioritize public safety, ensure the security of fans, players and officials.
The league confirmed that the game has been rescheduled for Sunday evening at the same venue.
This incident marks the second fatal shooting involving federal agents in Minneapolis this month, further heightening public concern over law enforcement operations and civil safety in the city.
Authorities have not yet released full details surrounding the shooting, while investigations are ongoing.
