The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dutse Branch, has called for urgent justice and full accountability in the case involving a Department of State Services (DSS) officer, Ifeanyi Onyewuenyi, who is accused of abducting, raping, and unlawfully detaining a 16-year-old girl, Miss Walida Abdullahi.

The Association’s demand follows renewed public attention on the case, which has reportedly lingered for over two years. Miss Abdullahi was declared missing by her family at the age of 16, with extensive but unsuccessful efforts made to locate her during that period.

The matter took a significant turn on January 7, 2026, when a court issued an order directing security authorities to arrest and investigate Onyewuenyi. The NBA says it is now insisting on full compliance with the court’s directive as investigations continue.

In a statement signed on Saturday by the branch’s Publicity Secretary, A.B. Umar, the NBA Dutse Branch expressed shock over the allegations, describing them as “an appalling level of barbarism, a crass display of impunity.”

According to the statement, despite repeated efforts by Miss Abdullahi’s parents to find her, her whereabouts remained unknown for more than two years. The prolonged trauma, the NBA said, reportedly contributed to the death of her mother.

The Association disclosed that Onyewuenyi allegedly contacted the victim’s father, Abdulhadi Ibrahim, in January 2026, admitting that Miss Abdullahi had been in his custody for over two years, instructing him to travel to Abuja for what he described as their marriage.

The NBA acknowledged reports that the DSS had arrested Onyewuenyi, stressed the need for a transparent, impartial investigation in line with the court order.

“We demand a swift, transparent, thorough, and impartial investigation to ascertain the culpability of the suspect and any other person(s) who may be complicit in this egregious case,” Umar said.

The Association listed the alleged offences to include abduction, unlawful detention, rape of a minor, abuse of office, and forced conversion and marriage.

Umar described the alleged actions as a “gross abuse of office”, emphasized that the legal community would not tolerate impunity, regardless of the suspect’s position.

The NBA further stated that it would closely monitor developments in the case to ensure justice is served for the victim and her family, while urging members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding as the judicial process unfolds.

“The court has given its order, and we expect full compliance,” Umar said, adding that the Association would ensure“justice is not only done but is seen to be done.”
