Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to unity, inclusiveness and equitable treatment of residents irrespective of ethnic background, ensuring that everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to the State’s growth

The Governor gave the assurance while addressing members of socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, during the Igbo Unity Day Celebration at Ibom Hall Grounds, Uyo, on Saturday, November 15, 2025.

Governor Eno noted that many members of non-indigenous communities were born and raised in Akwa Ibom and have established their businesses in the State, adding that such individuals should rightly be seen as integral parts of the State’s social and economic fabric.

He announced that his administration has earmarked N800 million for the empowerment of non-indigenous communities, including Ndi Igbo, Arewa, Yoruba, and Niger Delta groups, resident in Akwa Ibom.
The Governor commended the Igbo community for fostering unity, embracing peaceful coexistence and aligning with the administration’s peace-driven agenda, stressing that “with unity, much can be achieved for our collective good.”
Governor Eno, who was born in Enugu State, further praised the Igbo people for their entrepreneurial spirit, describing it as “impressive, exemplary, and a significant contributor to the State’s development.”
“Let me congratulate and celebrate the Igbo community for your great spirit of enterprise and faith in our collective democracy. The Igbo people here are part of our social fabric; they have added value to our community through their remarkable spirit of industry and brotherhood.” he said.
He emphasized that Akwa Ibom is fast becoming a melting pot of diverse cultures, “a symphony of love, unity and peaceful coexistence” made possible by the government’s intentional pursuit of peace, security and hospitality.
The Governor thanked Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo for honouring him as their Grand Patron and for pledging unanimous support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and himself in 2027.
President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Hon. Kayceey Chidiadi, commended Governor Eno for his visionary and unifying leadership, saying the Governor’s peace-oriented governance has permeated their community, restoring unity after years of internal divisions.
Chidiadi also expressed gratitude for appointing members of the Igbo community into government, an opportunity he said had never been extended to them since the creation of Akwa Ibom State.
