Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the need for an alternative political platform to better serve the state.

In a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the PDP Chairman of his Ampang West Ward, Dasjak Sunday Longyol, the Governor expressed gratitude to the party for providing a platform for his democratic participation.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect. I sincerely appreciate the PDP for providing me the political platform to participate in the democratic process,” Mutfwang wrote.

He also thanked party leaders, members, supporters for their support, noting that his decision was guided by “purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and service delivery.”

The letter did not indicate which political party Mutfwang would join, but reports suggest that he is set to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The party’s National Working Committee has welcomed him, with officials pledging support for his new political journey.

Mutfwang’s resignation ends months of speculation about his political future, marks a significant realignment in Plateau State ahead of upcoming elections.
