LANDLORD IN POLICE CUSTODY OVER ALLEGED ASSAULT ON TENANT IN AKWA IBOM

A landlord in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, Ekong Henry, is currently in Police custody over an alleged assault on his 31-year-old tenant, identified as Rachael Ndop, which left her with serious injuries.

The incident occurred on Hospital Road in Abak Local Government Area following a dispute between the suspect and the victim.

According to Police sources, what started as a misunderstanding reportedly escalated when the suspect allegedly armed himself with a sharp object and attacked the woman.

The victim sustained injuries to her head and left arm, leading to significant blood loss before she was rescued.

Confirming the development, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, said operatives promptly responded to the situation, rushed the victim to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment.

She added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident and the charges to be filed against the suspect.

The police spokesperson condemned the act, describing it as a serious offence capable of causing grievous harm and cautioned against the use of violence in resolving disputes.
