The Lagos State Government has arrested 15 street beggars during enforcement operations at Ikosi Ketu and Mile 12, authorities said on Friday.

State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, explained that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public order and protect public spaces from misuse.

“Fifteen street beggars were apprehended this morning during our enforcement operations at Ikosi Ketu and Mile 12. This is part of our continuous effort to maintain order, ensure safety, and safeguard public spaces from abuse,” Wahab said via his X handle.

He added that the ministry will continue to enforce the law while working with social welfare agencies to provide rehabilitation where needed.
