The Kwara State Government has approved the reopening of the Kwara State Polytechnic following its recent closure due to students’ protest.

The approval was conveyed in an internal memo signed by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Halima Garba, on behalf of the Registrar.

According to the memo dated February 26, 2026, the government directed the management to reopen the institution for academic and administrative activities.

Titled “Reopening of the Polytechnic for Academic and Administrative Work,” the memo stated that the polytechnic would resume on Monday, March 2, 2026.

“The management of the Polytechnic wishes to formally inform the Polytechnic community that the Kwara State Government has approved the reopening of the Polytechnic for academic and administrative work,” the statement read.

“In line with the directive, the Polytechnic will resume on Monday, March 2, 2026. All staff and students are therefore urged to adhere to the directive and resume promptly on the stated date.”

The management expressed appreciation to staff and students for their cooperation and understanding during the period of closure and expressed optimism about completing the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic session successfully.

The institution had been shut down a few weeks ago following a students’ protest, though details of the protest were not immediately stated in the memo.
