Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of three senior chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The deceased are Onojah James Ignatius, Hon. Jatto Onimisi Suleiman, and Alhaji Alih Atabo.
Their deaths were announced on Monday by the Kogi State Government in a statement issued through the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo.
The circumstances surrounding their deaths were not disclosed.
According to the statement, Ignatius was a Special Adviser to the Governor and former Chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area. Suleiman served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, while Atabo was the APC Chairman of Anyigba Ward in Dekina Local Government Area.
“The government and people of Kogi State have received with profound sorrow the news of the passing of three distinguished sons of the state,” the statement said. Commissioner Fanwo described the deceased as men who served Kogi State and the APC with uncommon dedication, loyalty, and commitment.
Fanwo highlighted Ignatius as a seasoned grassroots mobilizer and Administrator, noting his passion for community development and good governance.
He described Suleiman as diligent and humble, always placing public interest above personal considerations, while Atabo was praised as a committed party stalwart, devoted to the growth, unity, and progress of the APC at the ward level.
Governor Ododo, the state government, and the people of Kogi State have conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families, associates, and the APC family, also extending sympathies to the communities of Igalamela, Okene, and Dekina.
“We deeply appreciate their invaluable contributions to the development of Kogi State and the strengthening of our great party. Their legacies of service, sacrifice, and dedication will continue to inspire us,” the statement added.
