A central suspect in the Shakahola cult massacre has admitted guilt in the killing of 191 followers, the majority of whom were children, authorities reported.
The case is linked to more than 400 deaths resulting from starvation and abuse within the cult. Investigations revealed systematic neglect and brutal treatment of members, many of whom were coerced into obedience.
The suspect’s plea marks a significant development in a long-running investigation into the cult’s activities, as authorities continue efforts to bring other responsible individuals to justice and address the humanitarian crisis caused by the sect.
