British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the United Kingdom would not have to choose between the United States and China, highlighting “significant opportunities” for British businesses ahead of his trip to Beijing this week, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday.
Chinese analysts noted that Starmer’s comments reflect a pragmatic approach, as London increasingly acknowledges China’s growing influence in the global economy. They added that recent US tariff threats illustrate the limitations of traditional alliances in addressing the challenges.
Starmer’s visit is expected to focus on strengthening trade relations, exploring avenues for collaboration with China while maintaining existing ties with the US.
