KANO GOV. CONDEMNS KILLING OF WOMAN, SIX CHILDREN

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of Kano metropolis, describing the incident as “barbaric and unacceptable.”

In a statement released on Saturday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa, Governor Yusuf condemned the attack and directed security agencies to immediately apprehend those responsible.

“The killing of a mother and her innocent children is barbaric, senseless, and a grave assault on our shared humanity,” the statement quoted the Governor.

The tragedy occurred on Saturday in Dorayi Chiranchi, Kumbotso Local Government Area, when unknown assailants invaded the residence of the victims, identified as Fatima Abubakar and her six children.

Their bodies were later recovered and taken to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, while the incident was reported at the Kumbotso Police Division, prompting a formal investigation.

Governor Yusuf extended condolences to the bereaved family, residents of Dorayi Chiranchi, and the people of Kano State, praying for the repose of the victims’ souls and for strength for their loved ones.

He further vowed that the crime would not go unpunished, emphasizing that justice must be served.

“We will ensure that the perpetrators are hunted down, arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” he said.

The Governor also ordered the Kano State Police Command to launch an immediate manhunt for the suspects and directed the Kano State Neighbourhood Corps to intensify patrols and community surveillance, especially in vulnerable areas.

He urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and promptly report any suspicious activities, assuring the public of his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
