Jigawa State Police Command has recorded significant successes in its ongoing fight against crime across the state, under the leadership of CP Dahiru Muhammad, PSC, FDC.
On January 18, operatives of the State Intelligence Department, in collaboration with the Hunters Group, raided Fateka Settlement Camp in Malam Madori Local Government Area. One Usman Hassan, 25, was arrested in possession of a locally made pistol. Investigations revealed that Hassan conspired with his gang members to rob travellers along Hadejia–Nguru Road and in Garin Gabas village. Efforts to arrest other members of the gang are ongoing.
In another operation, on January 22, police officers responded to a report from Ringim Division about two hoodlums who attacked a civilian guard and rustled 22 cows from a farmhouse along Ringim–Kano Road. Shu’aibu Maiyare, 30, was arrested and all cows were recovered and returned to their rightful owner. The second suspect remains at large.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested three suspected cattle rustlers. They include Ya’u Shuaibu, 22, from Daurawa village in Taura LGA, and Inusa Abdu, 22, and Isiya Zubairu, 22, from Gunka village in Jahun LGA. Investigations showed that the suspects, with two others still at large, stole five cows from Dajin Gunka on January 5, transported them in two vehicles for disposal. Police are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The police also arrested Hassan Isah, 42, from Kafin Fulani village, Sara Division, for vandalism.
Electrical installations recovered from him include an armored transformer cable, 12 slime cores, two pot insulators and four slime clamps. Two additional suspects, Adda’u Shehu, 35, and Kabiru Garba, 27, from Kofar Fada Quarters, Birnin Kudu LGA, were also taken into custody for further investigation.
On January 24, a surveillance team in Kazaure intercepted a black Peugeot 206 with registration number AP 628 ABJ driven by Mustapha Abdulkadir, 32, from Dan Dashe village, Kano State. Two passengers escaped. Police recovered three sacks of high-tension cable wires, a hydro pump generator, and assorted metal tools. The suspects were allegedly vandalising and stealing along Kazaure–Yankwashi Road.
All suspects are currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, they will be arraigned in court, according to SP Shiisu Lawan Adam Anipr, Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Police Command.
The police urged residents to continue providing useful
information and assured that all reports will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
DOZENS OF BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS KILLED, OVER 100 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Troops of the Nigerian military have killed dozens of terrorists, arrested more than 100 suspects, and rescued 29 kidnapped victims during coordinated operations across the country.
Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Michael Onoja, announced this in Abuja while briefing journalists on the outcome of military operations conducted between January 19 and January 23.
Major-General Onoja said the operations were intelligence-driven, carried out in collaboration with other security agencies, in strict adherence to the Rules of Engagement, international humanitarian law and human rights.
In the North-East, troops of Operation Hadin Kai neutralized scores of Boko Haram, ISWAP and JAS terrorists in parts of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states.
In the North-West, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma killed several terrorists, arrested 10 suspects, and rescued seven kidnapped victims in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna states, with weapons, vehicles and rustled livestock recovered.
In the North-Central, troops of Operation Enduring Peace neutralized extremists, arrested 39 criminals, and rescued four kidnapped victims in Plateau State and parts of Kaduna State, recovering arms, ammunition, cash linked to cattle rustling.
Similarly, troops of Operation Whirl Stroke arrested 11 suspected kidnappers and rescued six victims across Benue, Taraba, Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa states and the Federal Capital Territory.
In the South-South, troops of Operation Delta Safe destroyed 20 illegal refining sites, arrested 31 oil thieves and other suspects in Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers and Imo states.
Meanwhile, in the South-East, troops of Operation Udo Ka rescued eight Cameroonian nationals kidnapped by sea pirates in Cross River State, arrested three suspects in Anambra
State, and received the surrender of about 80 militants along with their arms and ammunition.
