Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni has reaffirmed her country’s firm commitment to maintaining strong cooperation with the United States, stressing that Italy remains a reliable partner in transatlantic relations.
Meloni spoke on Friday in Rome after a bilateral meeting with German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, during Italian-German government consultations held at the Villa Doria Pamphili.
She said Italy and Germany both enjoy privileged relationships with Washington and that such ties could play a constructive role in strengthening cooperation between Europe and the United States at a time of growing global uncertainty.
According to the Italian leader, close engagement with the United States remains important for security, economic stability and diplomatic coordination, especially on issues affecting Europe and the wider international community.
The meeting between the two European leaders focused on regional security, economic cooperation and shared foreign policy priorities, with both sides agreeing on the need for unity in dealing with emerging geopolitical challenges.
Meloni’s remarks come amid renewed global debates over transatlantic relations and the future direction of Western alliances, with Italy signaling that it intends to remain firmly aligned with its traditional partners.
