Israel and the United States have intensified their military campaign against Iran, striking multiple locations across the country including residential areas, hospitals, schools and major cultural landmarks, according to Iranian officials and international reports.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said at least 33 civilian locations were targeted nationwide as the attacks entered their sixth consecutive day. Among the sites reportedly affected are hospitals, residential neighbourhoods, the Tehran Grand Bazaar and the historic Golestan Palace complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Iranian authorities also confirmed that Azadi Stadium, the country’s largest sports complex located in Tehran, was struck during the latest wave of attacks. The strikes have significantly disrupted daily life across the capital and other cities as residents report heavy bombardment and widespread destruction.

Figures released by the Iranian government and the Iranian Red Crescent indicate that more than 3,600 civilian facilities have suffered varying levels of damage. The organization reported that 3,090 homes, 528 commercial centres, 13 medical facilities and nine Red Crescent centres were affected in the attacks.

Major medical institutions including Khatam Hospital, Gandhi Hospital and several rehabilitation centres were also damaged. Officials stated that some patients were injured when parts of hospital buildings collapsed during the strikes. Facilities such as the Valiasr Burn Hospital have reportedly been rendered inoperable.

Residents in Tehran described the situation as worsening by the day. One resident speaking by phone said the bombardment in northern Tehran had intensified, adding that many civilians have nowhere safe to relocate.

Iranian authorities said the death toll has risen to at least 1,230 people since the conflict escalated last weekend. Among the casualties were more than 170 schoolgirls and staff reportedly killed in a missile strike on a school in Minab earlier in the week.

The World Health Organization confirmed that several attacks have affected healthcare infrastructure during the ongoing campaign. According to WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at least 13 attacks on healthcare facilities in Iran and one in Lebanon have been verified, resulting in the deaths of four healthcare workers and injuries to at least 25 others. Several ambulances were also damaged during the strikes.

In a separate development that has further escalated tensions, a United States submarine reportedly torpedoed and sank the Iranian naval frigate Iris Dena in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan naval authorities said 87 bodies were recovered from the waters while 32 survivors were rescued.

Iran’s Red Crescent has submitted documentation of the damage to the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international bodies as part of potential legal proceedings regarding the strikes on civilian infrastructure.

Security analysts warn that the growing scale of the attacks could trigger a wider regional conflict as military operations continue across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
