New intelligence assessments from the Central Intelligence Agency, other agencies indicate that the government of Iran is not currently at risk of collapse despite weeks of military strikes by the United States and Israel.
Sources familiar with the intelligence reports say multiple assessments produced in recent days show that Iran’s leadership structure remains largely intact and continues to maintain control across the country.
The analysis comes after intense military operations that targeted Iranian air defenses, nuclear facilities and senior security officials. The campaign began shortly after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during the opening phase of the conflict.
Following his death, the powerful clerical body known as the Assembly of Experts named his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as the country’s new supreme leader.
Despite the loss of several high-ranking officials, intelligence reports say the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps remains operational and continues to exercise significant influence over national security and the country’s economy.
Officials familiar with the reports say the situation inside Iran remains fluid, but current intelligence assessments consistently show that the political system is still functioning and there are no immediate signs of government collapse.
Meanwhile, some opposition groups have explored the possibility of challenging Tehran’s authority. Kurdish militant groups operating near the border with Iraq have reportedly discussed potential operations against Iranian forces.
However, intelligence sources say these groups lack the manpower, heavy weapons needed to sustain a major military confrontation with Iranian security forces.
The war has also placed increasing pressure on global energy markets and diplomatic relations in the region, while raising questions about how the conflict could eventually end if Iran’s leadership remains firmly in control.
