The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the party’s national convention in Abuja.

The electoral body reflected the update on its official website on Monday, listing Abdulrahman Mohammed as the National Chairman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the National Secretary, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Both leaders emerged at the PDP National Convention held on Sunday at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, where party officials were elected through a consensus arrangement after the dissolution of the National Caretaker Committee.

The recognized NWC members include Aaron Chukwuemeka (Deputy National Chairman, South), Yusufu Akirikwen (SAN) (Deputy National Chairman, North), Kolawale Olabisi (Deputy National Secretary), and Odeyemi Oladiran (National Treasurer).

Others are Lado Marke (Deputy National Treasurer), Eyim Henry (National Financial Secretary), Grema Kyari (Deputy National Financial Secretary), Umar Bature (National Organising Secretary), and Efere Augustine (Deputy National Organising Secretary).

Also listed are Jungudo Mohammed (National Publicity Secretary), Egwu Chidiebere (Deputy National Publicity Secretary), Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN) (National Legal Adviser), Aloysius Uba (Deputy National Legal Adviser), Osuoha Donatus (National Auditor), and Adaba Seri Yatu (Deputy National Auditor).

The remaining members include Prof. Ogunshe Adedayo (National Women Leader), Hauwa Shinge (Deputy National Women Leader), Ibrahim Aboki (National Youth Leader), and Momoh Bashir (Deputy National Youth Leader).

INEC’s recognition of the new leadership marks a significant development in the PDP’s ongoing internal crisis, as rival factions continue to contest the legitimacy of the party’s structure.
