Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the most abused politician in Nigeria after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, declaring that political activities in Rivers State will officially begin from January 2026.

Wike made the statement on Saturday during a special thanksgiving service organized by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, and his family in Ochiba community, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The former Rivers State Governor reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, stressing that he does not renege on agreements and values loyalty in politics.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Ahoada East and Ahoada West Local Government Areas for their consistent support over the years.

“This is the first local government we are coming to say thank you for being there for us all through these years. God detests ingratitude, and for what you have done for us, we say thank you,” Wike said.

Recalling the 2023 general elections, Wike praised the residents for standing firm when the outcome was uncertain.

“In 2023, when it was tough, many people were afraid to come out and vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we took a stand. We said, ‘on your mandate we stand,’ and today, to the glory of God, he is the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he stated.

He credited the people of the area for strengthening Tinubu’s mandate in Rivers State.

“You are the ones who made the mandate strong in Rivers State,” Wike said.

The FCT Minister made a veiled reference to recent political realignments in the state, suggesting that some politicians who now openly support Tinubu were absent when support was most needed.

“Those who are singing ‘on your mandate we stand’ now could not do so when it mattered most. You stood firm then, and your struggle will not be in vain,” he said.

Wike emphasized the importance of honouring agreements, warning against political opportunism.

“Anything you cannot do, don’t agree to it. From January next year, politics will start. Nobody can use us. Whatever we agreed in the morning remains agreed in the night,” he declared.

He reiterated his steadfast support for President Tinubu, noting that his loyalty has attracted criticism.

“After Bola Tinubu, the next most abused politician is me.

Why?
Because people know that when we agree on something, we implement it,” Wike said.

The minister also alleged that some politicians abuse him for personal gain, claiming that attacking him has become a means of attracting financial support
