The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) is set to arraign Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Mike Ozekhome, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, on Monday, January 26, 2026, over alleged fraud linked to a property in London, United Kingdom.
The hearing, scheduled in Courtroom 4, lists Ozekhome as the sole defendant with the Federal Republic of Nigeria as plaintiff. The prosecution will be led by Osuobeni Akponimisingha, Head of the ICPC’s High Profile Prosecution Department.
Ozekhome faces three counts filed on January 16. The first alleges that in August 2021, he directly received a London property at 79 Randall Avenue, NW2 7SX, purportedly from Mr. Shani Tali, knowing it was part of a fraudulent transaction. The second count alleges that Ozekhome created a false Nigerian passport (No. A07535463) in Mr. Tali’s name to support a fraudulent ownership claim. The third count states that he knowingly used the false passport to substantiate the property claim.
The case follows a petition by Mr. Olanrewaju Suraj, head of the Human and Environmental Development Agenda, referencing a British court judgment implicating Ozekhome and others in a scheme to procure fake national identity documents to claim ownership of the London property.
The ICPC notice states that any party seeking to postpone the hearing must apply to the court with evidence to support their request, and parties enforcing witness attendance must provide reasonable notice.
