Former United States Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has called on President Donald Trump to appear under oath before the House Oversight Committee investigating links to convicted financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

Clinton, who was subpoenaed to testify before the Republican-led panel on Thursday, accused lawmakers of attempting to protect political allies and divert attention from Trump. Ahead of her appearance, she released her opening statement online, describing the process as an “institutional failure” in seeking justice for Epstein’s victims.

Her husband, former President Bill Clinton, is set to testify on Friday. Both have maintained they had no knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities and have provided all relevant information to the committee. They had initially resisted appearing in person and faced threats of contempt charges.

Epstein, who was convicted in 2008 for soliciting a minor for prostitution and later charged with running a sex-trafficking ring in 2019, died in custody while awaiting trial. The case has remained controversial due to his connections with high-profile figures, including both Clintons and Trump.

Clinton criticized the panel for allowing some witnesses to submit written responses and for holding hearings behind closed doors. She stressed that if the investigation were serious, Trump should be directly questioned about the numerous references to him in Epstein-related documents, including communications with billionaire Elon Musk.

Senate Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer also weighed in, asking whether the administration was withholding more information or this amounted to a “full-blown coverup.” Meanwhile, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said the investigation had bipartisan support and aimed to provide transparency for victims.

The full transcript and video of the Clinton hearings are expected to be released after approval.
