GOVERNOR UMO ENO COMMISSIONS THREE-BEDROOM HOUSE FOR ESSIEN UDIM CARPENTER

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Wednesday commissioned and handed over a fully built, furnished three-bedroom flat to a 52-year-old carpenter, Mr. Sunday Akpakpan Useh, at Ukana Ikot Ntuen in Essien Udim Local Government Area.

The house was built, donated by the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, formally presented to the beneficiary, a father of two, during a well-attended ceremony in the community.

Represented by a former Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government, Mr. Victor Udofia, Governor Eno described Prince Akpabio as a pride of Essien Udim, whose compassion for the welfare of the people aligns with the state government’s ARISE Agenda, particularly its focus on rural development and improving the living conditions of the less privileged.

He commended the lawmaker for his humanitarian, selfless service, noting that such interventions complement government efforts at strengthening the social safety net, promoting people-centred leadership at the grassroots.

In his remarks, Prince Ukpong Akpabio II, accompanied by his wife, Ndifreke, said the beneficiary, fondly called Udo, is his childhood friend who once saved his life during a football match that degenerated into a communal clash in a neighbouring community.

He added that Useh has also made selfless contributions towards community development and deserved the support and further presented a ₦200,000 cash donation to the beneficiary’s family.

The contractor who handled the project, Surveyor Uduak Nathan, said the three-bedroom flat which is the third to be built and donated by the lawmaker, is equipped with a borehole, beds and mattresses, a television set and DSTV, to ensure the comfort of the family.

Receiving the keys, Sunday Akpakpan Useh, flanked by his wife, Mercy, and their two children, expressed gratitude to Prince Akpabio for the gesture, saying he would remain forever thankful for the life-changing intervention.

The event attracted prominent sons of Essien Udim, including Envoy Nsentip Akpabio who donated a fridge to the beneficiary, Engr. Enobong Patrick, who donated cash to the beneficiary’s family, women and youth present at the ceremony, as well as political and community leaders who commended the lawmaker, made donations in support of the beneficiary.

The Village Chairman of Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Elder Ekerete Ekpe and the Family Head of the beneficiary, Nto Eshiet Udo Umo Ntuen Family, Mr. Essien Umon, described Prince Akpabio as a promise keeper, who is responsive to the welfare of his constituents.
