GOVERNOR UMO ENO APPOINTS SSA ON AGRIC-BUSINESS, MOVES TO STRENGTHEN ARISE AGENDA IMPLEMENTATION

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced key appointments aimed at strengthening agricultural development and accelerating the implementation of Governor Umo Eno’s ARISE Agenda, particularly its Agric-Business pillar.

In a statement issued on Friday, November 28, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Governor Umo Eno approved the appointment of Pastor Godwin Ukwat as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agric-Business.

According to the statement, Pastor Ukwat will coordinate agricultural investments across major state-driven initiatives, including the Ibom Model Farm, AKADEP, the Tractor and Equipment Leasing Company, the Tree Crop Revolution Project, farm settlements development and food value-chain expansion programmes.

He is expected to work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Akwa Ibom Investment Corporation (AKICORP).

In a further move to boost the state’s food security structure, the Governor also appointed Mr. Ofonmbuk Nelson as Director (Agric-Business).

Nelson will serve as the Secretary to the Agriculture and Food Security Committee.

The statement noted that the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to reposition strategic government agencies for enhanced service delivery, improved coordination and effective realisation of the goals of the ARISE Agenda.

Both appointments take immediate effect.
