GOVERNOR MAKINDE APPOINTS NEW MONARCH FOR OYO COMMUNITY

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere as the new Onilua of Ilua, a prominent traditional stool in Kajola Local Government Area.

The approval, confirmed in an official letter dated December 31, 2025, was issued by the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Secretariat, Ibadan, with reference number CB.141/26A Vol. III/99. The letter was signed by A.M. Olajire, Director of Chieftaincy Matters.

The ministry informed Prince Olalere “with pleasure” that the Governor had graciously approved his appointment, effective October 20, 2023.

The appointment is expected to be published soon in the Official Gazette of the Oyo State Government, in line with statutory procedures governing traditional institutions in the state.

In congratulating the new traditional ruler, the ministry expressed optimism that his reign would usher in peace, progress, and socio-economic development for Ilua town and the wider Kajola Local Government Area.

“May your reign as the new Onilua of Ilua be synonymous with peace, progress, and socio-economic growth in Kajola Local Government Area,” the ministry wrote, wishing him a successful, impactful tenure.

Prince Ashiru Oyebisi Olalere now assumes leadership of one of the most respected traditional stools in the state, tasked with fostering unity, development in his community.
