Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the state, pledging continued efforts to ensure citizens have access to quality medical services.
In a goodwill message on Tuesday to mark World Health Day, Governor Fubara urged residents to protect themselves from preventable diseases by adopting healthy lifestyles, maintaining proper hygiene, and actively participating in community health initiatives.
“The health of our people is a shared responsibility. Community involvement is key to promoting awareness and supporting local health programs,” he stated.

Celebrated globally on April 7 each year, this year’s World Health Day themed, “ Together for Health. Stand with Science ,” underscores the role of scientific research, collaboration, and evidence-based solutions in improving global health, while promoting the One Health approach connecting human, animal, plant, and environmental health.
Under Governor Fubara’s leadership, Rivers State has revived, expanded previously neglected health facilities, including the zonal hospitals in Bori, Omoku, Ahoada, and Degema. Additionally, 153 Primary Healthcare Centres have been remodelled to improve functionality. The state has also recruited over 2,000 health workers to boost manpower and operational efficiency.

The Governor further announced the promotion of more than 400 staff at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital and the recruitment of an additional 500 personnel, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
