Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has stressed the need for the state to remain on the path of peace and development as political activities gradually begin ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Governor Eno made the call on Friday, January 9, while receiving members of a socio-political group, the ARISE With Renewed Hope Initiative, on a courtesy visit at the Hilltop Mansion, Government House, Uyo.
He commended the initiators of the group for translating their idea from conception to reality, describing the composition of the initiative as a true reflection of unity across Akwa Ibom State.
According to the Governor, peace and development must go hand in hand for sustainable progress.
“This group reflects the unity of the Akwa Ibom spirit, which is essential for the continued success of the ARISE Agenda. We must remain committed to peace and development because you cannot sacrifice one for the other. Without peace, there can be no development,” he said.
Governor Eno urged residents of the state to actively participate in the ongoing INEC e-registration of voters, encouraged effective mobilization ahead of future elections.
He also expressed confidence that unity among party stakeholders would ensure seamless electoral processes, success for candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels.
Earlier, the President General of the ARISE With Renewed Hope Initiative, Engr. Uwem Okoko, FNSE, said the group was formed by like-minded individuals, committed to mobilizing support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Governor Umo Eno, and other APC candidates.
Okoko noted that the current federal administration has enhanced Akwa Ibom State’s integration with the Federal Government, highlighting the performance of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President.
“Akwa Ibom stands solidly with President Bola Tinubu for a second term, with Senator Godswill Akpabio for re-election and continuity as Senate President, and with Governor Umo Eno to consolidate on his leadership beyond 2027,” he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Sir Victor Antai, described the political unity fostered by Governor Eno and Senator Akpabio as a major driver of development in the state.
He expressed optimism that the initiative would play a key role in securing electoral victories for the APC in 2027.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntuekpo, assured the group that it would be fully integrated into the party’s campaign structure when campaigns officially commence.
“This group will have a defined role in the campaign structure of the APC, we will work together in synergy to ensure victory,” he said.
