Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing reforms and attracting investment in the power and maritime sectors as part of efforts to boost the state’s economy.
Governor Eno gave the assurance at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, while addressing Government House Correspondents upon his return from the United Kingdom, where he accompanied President Bola Tinubu on a State visit.
The Governor disclosed that the trip provided an opportunity to engage with prospective investors, particularly in the power sector, expressing optimism that the interactions would yield positive outcomes for the state.
“We expect something good from the interaction. It takes a lot of work, whether it is Ibom Deep Seaport or power, it requires sustained effort,” he said.
He noted that his administration has already taken strategic steps toward reforming the power sector, although results may not be immediate.
“We have made significant progress in reforming the power sector, but it is not a walk in the park. It is precept upon precept,” he added.
Governor Eno also expressed concern over the current national power challenges, reiterating his resolve to change the narrative in Akwa Ibom State.
On the Ibom Deep Seaport project, the Governor called for patience and continued support from the people, emphasizing that due process must be followed to achieve lasting results.
“We are engaging investors on the Ibom Deep Seaport. We have completed payment for the feasibility studies. I understand the enthusiasm indeed, I want the seaport and stable power supply immediately, however, we must follow due process to get it right,” he said.
He assured that steady progress is being made on both the seaport and power initiatives, noting growing investor interest.
“We are moving step by step toward our goals in the Ibom Deep Seaport and power sector. Things may not happen overnight, but we are making progress, and investors are showing strong interest,” the Governor stated.
Governor Eno reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure that will drive economic growth and improve the living standards of Akwa Ibom people.
