Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has announced plans to provide additional facilities at Ibom Plaza in Uyo, as part of efforts to boost tourism under his ARISE Agenda.
The Governor announced this on Tuesday night, during the re-opening of the remodelled Ibom Plaza, where he commended the Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Mr. Anietie Eka, his team for delivering the project within record time.
Governor Umo Eno said the Plaza was reclaimed to serve as a modern city square where residents can gather for recreation, entertainment, social activities, adding that a comprehensive master plan including a flyover, was being developed for the facility.

The Governor also appreciated the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Baba Azare, for approving a security outpost at the plaza, assuring that safety of lives and property would be guaranteed.
He announced that the Plaza will operate daily from 7 a.m. to midnight, warning that anyone found within the premises after closing hours would be arrested.
Chairman, Uyo Local Government, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, praised the Governor for restoring the Plaza to its lost glory, describing the renovation as a creative idea in line with the urban renewal vision of former Governor, Arc. Obong Victor Attah.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anieti Udofia, said the remodelling of the Plaza reflects the administration’s commitment to cultural development and tourism promotion.
