Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information, Mr Aniekan Umanah, has described Governor Umo Eno as a focused and phenomenal leader, whose two and a half years in office reflect a structured and results-driven approach to governance.
Mr. Umanah made the assertion while featuring as a studio guest on the programme “ARISE Akwa Ibom”
According to the Commissioner, Governor Eno’s agricultural policies are deliberate and strategic, with strong emphasis on food security and economic diversification.
He cited initiatives such as the Ibom Model Farms, patterned after the Songhai model, the Home Garden Scheme, and the Tree Crop Revolution aimed at reviving oil palm production and empowering farmers with modern processing tools.
He said rural development remains a major priority of the administration, with the construction of rural roads, model schools and health facilities across the 31 local government areas, alongside SME funding initiatives rolled out during the Governor’s Town Square Meetings.
On security, Mr, Umanah noted that effective collaboration with security agencies has ensured sustained peace in the State, citing the hitch-free thirty-two days of Christmas Unplugged celebrations as evidence.
The Commissioner also highlighted major strides in education, including the upgrade of the State College of Education to a University, and improved operations at Akwa Ibom State University and the State Polytechnic.
In the health sector, he said the Governor’s declaration of a State of Emergency has led to the recruitment of two thousand health workers, recall of retired professionals, and the construction of the Ibom International Hospital, expanding access to healthcare through the State Health Insurance Scheme.
