Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the recent attack on residents of Mbalom in Gwer-East Local Government Area, allegedly carried out by suspected armed herdsmen.
The governor described the incident as a brutal act that threatens the peace and safety of communities in the state.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia expressed deep sympathy to the victims and families affected by the attack. He assured them that the state government stands in solidarity with them during this difficult period.
Governor Alia also raised concerns about what he described as a disturbing pattern of targeted attacks in parts of Benue State. According to him, the increasing complexity of such security threats will not deter the government’s determination to protect lives and property.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling criminal activities across the state and vowed that those responsible for the attack would be brought to justice.
The governor commended security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, for their swift response following the incident. He noted that security officials have assured the government that efforts are underway to track down and arrest those behind the attack.
Alia further urged security agencies to intensify their operations to prevent further violence and ensure lasting peace in the affected communities.

He added that the government is working to strengthen the state’s security framework through improved intelligence gathering and closer collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
The governor also appealed to residents to remain calm, stay vigilant, and obey the law. He encouraged members of the public to support security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in ongoing investigations and security operations.
