Gombe State has achieved a historic surge in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), jumping from N6.8bn in 2019 to N40.8bn in 2025 under Governor Muhammadu Yahaya. The figure nearly doubles the N20.7bn recorded in 2024 and exceeds the 2025 target of N25.7bn by 158 per cent.

Aisha Adamu, Chairman of the Gombe State Internal Revenue Service (GIRS), attributed the growth to deliberate reforms, enhanced tax collection systems, and strong political backing from the Yahaya administration. She said the momentum accelerated after her appointment in 2023.

“From N15.18bn in 2023, we rose to N20.72bn in 2024, and in just one year, we achieved over N40bn in 2025,” Adamu stated.

She highlighted that the revenue gains reflect expanded tax coverage, improved compliance, and the administration’s focus on fiscal discipline. Adamu noted that the funds would enable Gombe State to strengthen public services, expand social infrastructure, and finance critical development projects that directly impact residents.

Looking ahead, she expressed confidence that 2026 would deliver even higher revenue performance with continued government support, citizen cooperation.
