Competition among fuel marketers has escalated as stations along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway adjust petrol prices to attract customers. SGR Filling Station in Mowe reduced its pump price to ₦805 per litre from ₦812, following a cut by a nearby NIPCO outlet from ₦828 to ₦812 per litre.

Other stations in the axis, including Alade and Habeeb Filling Stations, maintained prices between ₦819 and ₦820, while SAO, Akiavic AP, and MRS outlets adjusted prices variably to remain competitive. Some MRS stations, despite a recent gantry price cut by Dangote Petroleum Refinery from ₦799 to ₦774 per litre, retained pump prices at ₦839 per litre.

Dangote Refinery announced the gantry price reduction and noted that its ex-depot price remains lower than imported petrol, enhancing the competitiveness of locally refined products. The refinery has also achieved its full nameplate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day following maintenance and optimization of its crude distillation and motor spirit production units a first globally for a single-train refinery of its scale.

The move highlights both the aggressive competition among petrol marketers and the operational growth of local refining capacity in Nigeria.
