The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned the children of the late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja against engaging in disputes over their father’s assets, warning that such actions could lead to chaos, disunity within the royal family.
Governor Fubara gave this advice during a funeral service held in honour of the late monarch at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Opobo Town.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and unity, urging family members to focus on personal growth and success, rather than dissipating energy on inheritance battles.
Describing the late king as a man of class, dignity, and remarkable leadership, the governor praised his peaceful and successful reign. He noted that, aside from the legendary King Jaja of Opobo and the founding chiefs of Opobo, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja stood out as a monarch whose achievements significantly elevated the kingdom’s profile.
Governor Fubara also addressed the Amanyanabo-elect of Opobo Kingdom, urging him to chart a new course for the kingdom with wisdom and pragmatism rather than attempting to merely replicate the legacy of his predecessor.
In his sermon, the Bishop of the Diocese of Niger Delta, Emmanuel Oko Jaja, reflected on the transient nature of life. He called on the congregation to shun pride and the excessive pursuit of wealth, reminding them that such pursuits ultimately amount to vanity at life’s end.
The event drew dignitaries, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to pay their final respects to the revered monarch, celebrating a life marked by leadership, service, and enduring impact.
