Four persons have been confirmed dead following an early morning attack by suspected terrorists on Imande Dem Community in Mbabua, Uvir, along the Makurdi–Guma Road in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

According to reports gathered on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the attackers reportedly stormed the community in the early hours of the morning while residents were asleep, unleashing violence without warning.

A resident of the community who spoke on condition of anonymity said the assailants invaded the area suddenly, leaving several people injured, forcing many villagers to flee for safety.

“We had no issues with them before. People were sleeping when they came in and started attacking. Four people were killed, many others escaped with injuries,” the resident said.

The source added that the community had no known prior conflict with the armed attackers, making the incident both shocking and devastating for residents.

In the aftermath of the attack, panic and confusion have gripped the community, with many residents abandoning their homes while others struggle to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.

Community leaders have called on the Benue State Government, led by Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and security agencies to urgently intervene to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents along the Makurdi–Guma axis.
