The Executive Director of Estates Services at the Federal Housing Authority, Arc. Nya-Etok Ezekiel, has stirred political debate after publicly announcing his endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other key political figures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Ezekiel disclosed that although he was appointed into office on February 16, 2024 by President Tinubu while he was a member of the African Democratic Congress, he later resigned from the party in July 2024 to become non-partisan.
He explained that his decision at the time was driven by a desire to maintain neutrality, focus on national service without partisan distractions.
However, in December 2025, the FHA director formally joined the All Progressives Congress, citing what he described as careful reflection on the President’s leadership philosophy, governance direction.
“I did not join immediately because I live by conviction. Every public decision I make must be one I can explain clearly, rationally, and respectfully to the people I serve,” he stated.
Ezekiel announced that he would on Saturday, February 21, 2026, convene a Special Political Consultation Meeting in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State to formally endorse Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
He also declared support for Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to him, the endorsements would be “reasoned, not ceremonial,” adding that he would present data-driven and performance-based arguments for each candidate.
The planned engagement, he said, would take the form of a structured town hall meeting with invited delegates drawn from the 48 villages in Ikot Ekpene LGA, alongside selected stakeholders from across the state. Between five and ten representatives are expected from each village.
Participants, he noted, would be allowed to ask questions, with the objective of equipping them with what he described as “substantive informed knowledge, not just slogans.”
Ezekiel emphasized that his political philosophy is rooted in issue-based, evidence-driven and transparent engagement, stressing that “substance must replace noise”in Nigeria’s political discourse.
His open declaration, however, is already generating conversation in political circles, particularly as a serving federal appointee publicly aligns with specific candidates nearly two years before the next general election.
While he maintains that his position is anchored on governance performance and national interest, observers say the development could ignite fresh debates over the boundaries between public office, political neutrality and partisan mobilization ahead of 2027.
