The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle, arrested several suspects in separate incidents involving armed robbery and cult-related activities.

On March 9, police traced and recovered a dark grey Toyota Corolla S (registration KAB 83 BF) reported stolen in Kaduna State in April 2024. The vehicle was found in the possession of Blessing Ohwobete in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja. Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be charged to court.

In a separate incident on March 13, a man identified as 45-year-old Abiola Yakubu was arrested after attempting to evade a police checkpoint at Diamond Junction, Wuse II. Yakubu reportedly opened fire on officers during the chase. Police later recovered a locally made pistol from him. Preliminary findings suggest Yakubu is linked to a cult group and obtained the weapon from a gang member.

Earlier that day, police patrolling the Gudu area intercepted a motorcyclist carrying three men. The suspects fled, discarding a bag that contained one pistol with six rounds of live ammunition, a locally fabricated firearm with three cartridges, a wire cutter, and a cutlass. Authorities are still tracing the suspects.

The FCT Police Command said the arrests reflect ongoing efforts to tackle violent crime in the territory and urged residents to provide information that can help law enforcement agencies maintain safety.
