Lazio FC manager, Maurizio Sarri has undergone a minor heart operation after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, a condition that affects heart rhythm.
According to BBC Sport, the Serie A club confirmed on Tuesday that the procedure was routine, successful, expressing confidence that the 66-year-old coach will return to his duties within days.
In a statement on its X account, Lazio said Sarri underwent a transcatheter ablation procedure using PFA technology at the Policlinico Tor Vergata hospital in Rome.
The operation was performed by Professor Andrea Natale, a globally recognized specialist, was attended by the club’s doctor, Dr Italo Leo.
“The procedure was successfully completed. The head coach will resume his regular duties with the team in the coming days,” the club said.

Sarri, who was reappointed Lazio manager in June 2025, is currently overseeing the club’s campaign as they sit eighth in Serie A, with six wins from 17 matches.
Lazio are scheduled to host Napoli on Sunday.
The veteran coach boasts an illustrious career, having won the Europa League with Chelsea, the Serie A title with Juventus, and previously guided Lazio to a second-place league finish in the 2022–23 season.
