Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, received the Emir of Gombe, Alh. Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, on a traditional Sallah homage at the Government House to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

A statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General (Press Affairs), Government House, described the visit as a longstanding traditional practice in the state. It provides an opportunity for the Emir to felicitate with the Governor and the people on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast while strengthening the bond between the traditional institution and the government.

During the homage, the Emir expressed deep appreciation for Governor Yahaya’s purposeful leadership, noting that Gombe has witnessed unprecedented development across all sectors under his administration.

“I am proud of you, Your Excellency. Your leadership has brought remarkable transformation to Gombe State. Since the creation of the state, we have never witnessed this level of development until your administration,” the Emir stated.

The monarch recalled the Governor’s initial pledge at the start of his administration, noting with pride that he has not only fulfilled those promises but exceeded the expectations of the people. The Emir commended Governor Yahaya for promoting peace and unity, inclusive governance, and engaging traditional institutions in decision-making.

Highlighting key sectoral achievements, the Emir cited progress in health, infrastructure, education, energy, industry, and economic development, as well as efforts to extend development to underserved communities. He also praised the transformation of Gombe into a modern, aesthetically appealing city emerging as a hub for tourism, referencing landmark projects such as the upgraded Government House, the Airport, the Three-Arms Zone, and the Shehu Abubakar District.

Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed gratitude to the Emir for the visit and his consistent support, prayers, and guidance. He described the relationship between his administration and the Gombe Emirate Council as a critical pillar of the government’s successes.

Reflecting on his seven-year stewardship, the Governor noted that his administration has laid a solid foundation for sustainable growth, making significant strides in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic reforms.

“In the last seven years, we have worked tirelessly to reposition Gombe State and put it on the path of sustainable development. Today, we can confidently say that we have made appreciable progress across all sectors,” he stated, assuring that his administration remains committed to leaving enduring legacies for future generations.

On security, Governor Yahaya reiterated that the safety of lives and property remains the topmost priority of his administration. He also called on the people to sustain the spirit of unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence exemplified during Ramadan.
