The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its operatives across the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to monitor the February 21, 2026 council elections.

The move, according to the Commission, is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and curb voter inducement during the polls.

Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, directed the deployed officers to maintain strict surveillance across all council areas and ensure that incidents of vote buying and other electoral malpractices are prevented.

The Commission stated that its operatives have been strategically positioned across the FCT to promote transparency, accountability, and compliance with electoral laws throughout the exercise.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to supporting credible elections and warned that anyone found engaging in financial crimes related to the electoral process would face the full weight of the law.
