The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has urged members of the Girls Guide across Africa to uphold integrity and shun all forms of economic and financial crimes.

Olukoyede gave the charge in Abuja while receiving members of the Africa Girls Guide on a study tour to the Commission’s headquarters.

Represented by Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Nwayinma Okeanu, the EFCC boss stressed the need for young women to embrace honesty and responsibility as key drivers of national development.

“The only way we can move the nation forward is by being true to ourselves and doing the right things, even when no one is watching,” he said, adding that building a better future requires laying solid ethical foundations today.

He encouraged the girls to become role models and ambassadors of integrity for Nigeria and the African continent.

Also speaking, Acting Director of Staff Welfare Services, DCE Felicia Bot Timothy, advised the students to reflect good upbringing through disciplined and accountable behaviour, noting that their future would be shaped by their present actions.

In a presentation on cybercrime, EFCC Inspector Kayode Eniola educated the students on common online crimes such as phishing, hacking, and romance scams, warning of their damaging consequences, including financial loss and reputational harm.

She further urged them to adopt preventive measures such as using strong passwords, updating software regularly, and logging out of shared devices.

Earlier, the Head of the Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, ACE Aisha Mohammed, highlighted the EFCC’s preventive role in combating corruption, emphasizing the importance of early engagement and public awareness.

She called on the students to partner with the Commission as agents of change by rejecting internet fraud and promoting integrity in their communities.

The visit formed part of efforts to sensitize young people on ethical values and their role in the fight against corruption.
