Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested a 24-year-old palm kernel dealer, Iziga Jude Ikechukwu, popularly known as “Easy-money,” over alleged abuse of the Naira during his birthday celebration.

The anti-graft agency said Ikechukwu was apprehended following actionable intelligence obtained from a viral video circulating on social media. In the video, he was reportedly seen recording himself while mutilating and mishandling Naira notes inside a hotel room during his birthday party.

According to the EFCC, the act contravenes Section 21 of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which prohibits the abuse and mutilation of the nation’s currency.

Following the intelligence, operatives conducted a preliminary investigation which led to the identification of the suspect and his address. He was subsequently arrested on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at his residence around the Timber Market area in Enugu-Ezike, Enugu State.

The EFCC disclosed that upon his arrest, the sum of N81,700, suspected to be part of the money he allegedly abused, was recovered from him.

The Commission added that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
