Kano Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a Kannywood actress, Samha Inuwa, over alleged mutilation of the Naira.

The arrest was carried out on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, following the circulation of a viral video on social media in which the actress was allegedly seen using Naira notes to clean mucus from her nose.

According to the EFCC, the video triggered public outrage and prompted the Commission to commence an investigation into the incident.

Operatives of the anti-graft agency subsequently traced and arrested the actress to enable her respond to questions bordering on the alleged offence.

The Commission disclosed that Inuwa is currently in custody at its Kano detention facility, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The EFCC added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, in line with relevant laws governing the abuse and mutilation of the Nigerian currency.

The Commission has repeatedly warned against the misuse of the Naira, stressing that acts which deface, mutilate or abuse the national currency are punishable under the law.
