Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has reassured residents of his administration’s commitment to sustained development and improved welfare, urging citizens to remain united and hopeful as they celebrate Easter.

In his 2026 Easter broadcast to the people of the state, the Governor described the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a symbol of hope, sacrifice, and victory, noting that the season calls for renewed faith and collective responsibility.

Governor Eno expressed appreciation to Akwa Ibomites for their support and trust, particularly in backing key decisions taken in the interest of the state, including its political alignment at the centre.

Highlighting achievements of his administration under the ARISE Agenda, the Governor disclosed that over 1,300 kilometres of roads have been constructed or rehabilitated across the state, with an additional 167 kilometres recently approved for execution.

He noted that development projects have reached all local government areas, including model primary healthcare centres, schools, general hospitals, and feeder roads, aimed at improving living standards.

The Governor also outlined ongoing economic empowerment programmes, including a N2 billion agricultural grant, a N20 million ward-level cooperative scheme across all 369 wards, and initiatives to boost palm cultivation through the planned Palm Crop Revolution, supported by the procurement of 620,000 seedlings.

According to him, the administration has also made significant progress in social welfare, having paid over N82 billion out of inherited gratuities and constructed 355 ARISE Compassionate Homes for vulnerable citizens, with a target of 500 units.

In the area of infrastructure and tourism, Governor Eno said projects such as the ARISE Palm Resort, Ibom International Hospital, Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, and Ibom International Convention Centre are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to position the state as a major aviation hub.

He added that Ibom Air has expanded its fleet with additional aircraft and is preparing for international flight operations following the upgrade of the Victor Attah International Airport.

On the Ibom Deep Seaport project, the Governor said feasibility studies and key preparatory works have been completed, stressing that due process is being followed to ensure successful delivery.

Addressing power challenges, he disclosed that the state has developed a comprehensive electricity roadmap and established regulatory agencies to drive independent power generation and distribution, with a target to improve supply within the next year.

Governor Eno maintained that Akwa Ibom remains one of the safest states in the country, attributing this to effective collaboration between security agencies and community structures.

As the political season approaches, he urged citizens to avoid divisive politics and embrace peaceful engagement.

The Governor expressed optimism that, just as Easter signifies victory over adversity, the state would overcome its challenges and continue on the path of progress.
