Delta State has been declared safe and fully prepared to host the 15th Biennial Police Games (BIPOGA 2026), scheduled to hold from February 7 to February 14, 2026, in Asaba, the state capital.

The assessment followed the recommendations of the Force Sports Planning Committee, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Fom Pam Joseph, at the end of a two-day strategic conference and inspection exercise held in Asaba between Friday and Saturday.

A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, and made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday, assured athletes, officials and members of the public that preparations for the games are progressing satisfactorily.

According to the statement, the conference and inspection were conducted to fine-tune operational plans, logistics and inter-agency coordination ahead of the sporting event.

It noted that members of the committee carried out extensive inspections of the sporting facilities designated for the games to ensure they meet required standards.

Senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force in attendance included AIG Suleiman Abdul; Commissioners of Police Dantawaye Miller, Hassan Gwani, Osifo Emefiele, and the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, alongside other senior officers and members of the Force Sports Planning Committee.

The statement read in part:
“During the conference, critical issues bordering on venue readiness, security arrangements, accommodation, transportation, medical services and general logistics were extensively discussed, with emphasis placed on ensuring a seamless and professionally coordinated sporting event.

“Following the conference, the Committee embarked on an inspection tour of the various sporting facilities to be utilised for the games, assessing infrastructure, safety standards, logistics and overall suitability for athletes and officials expected from police commands and formations across the country.”
