Justice S.M. Shuaibu of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano has convicted and sentenced Kannywood actress, Saadatu Mohammed Inuwa, popularly known as Samha, to six months imprisonment for abuse and mutilation of the Naira.

The judgment was delivered on Friday, February 13, 2026.

Inuwa was arraigned on a one-count charge bordering on the tampering and mutilation of the Nigerian currency, contrary to Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007.

The charge stated that the actress, sometime in 2022 within the jurisdiction of the court, tampered with a ₦1,000 note issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria by soiling it with her nose.

She pleaded guilty when the charge was read to her. Following her plea, prosecuting counsel Musa Isah reviewed the facts of the case and urged the court to convict and sentence her accordingly.

In her plea for leniency, Inuwa told the court that she was a first-time offender and expressed remorse for her actions, asking the court to temper justice with mercy.

Justice Shuaibu subsequently convicted and sentenced her to six months’ imprisonment with an option of a ₦200,000 fine.
