COAS DEPLOYS ADDITIONAL TROOPS TO PLATEAU

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the deployment of additional troops to Plateau State in a bid to curb rising tension, strengthen ongoing security operations.

The deployment, carried out under Operation ENDURING PEACE, is aimed at reinforcing troops already on ground to restore law and order in affected parts of the state.

Addressing personnel at the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE in Jos, the COAS urged the troops to remain professional, disciplined, and resolute in confronting criminal elements threatening the peace of law-abiding citizens.

He assured them of adequate logistical support and combat enablers to ensure the successful execution of their mandate.

The newly deployed troops, numbering over 850, were drawn from military formations in Abuja and Kaduna. They have been tasked with protecting lives and property, as well as ensuring the safety and security of residents across Plateau State.

The move is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to de-escalate tensions and stabilise the security situation in the state.
